Niki is a Clinical psychologist who adopts a warm and collaborative approach that aims to empower her clients in making steps towards recovery. She has a focus on providing an inclusive and holistic care that is individualised to the need of each person.

Approach

Niki takes a warm, collaborative, and inclusive approach to therapy, providing individualised care that honours each client’s unique experiences. Niki believes that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change, and works alongside clients to draw on their strengths and values. With the understanding that each person is the expert in their own life, Niki strives to create a supportive space where clients feel empowered in their journey toward growth and well-being.

Experience and Interests

Niki has experience working across a number of settings, including private practice, hospital based inpatient and outpatient programs, group therapy, and NGOs. Niki has experience working with adolescents and adults presenting with a range of difficulties including eating disorders, body image distress, mood disorders including anxiety and depression, trauma, perfectionism, difficulties managing distressing emotions, and difficulties with self-criticism and self-esteem. Niki has a special interested in eating disorders where her thesis investigated the relationship between interoception, alexithymia and disordered eating in men. She is trained in a variety of evidence-based eating disorder treatments and is a Credentialed Eating Disorders Clinician by the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED). She also has a special interest in working with individuals who are undergoing or have undergone bariatric surgery. Niki values working as a part of a multidisciplinary team as this can enhance outcomes and experiences for her clients.

Therapies

Niki collaboratively works with her clients to understand their goals and adapts her approach to suit each individual’s needs. Niki practises from a neuroaffirming and Health at Every Size (HAES) lens. She is trained in and draws from Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and CBT for ARFID (CBT-AR), Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), Family Based Therapy (FBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), MANTRA, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Niki enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets (she has a dog named Casper and a cat named Kiwi). When she is not at work she enjoys exploring new restaurants in search of the best sandwich in Melbourne.
