What is Social Phobia?

Life is full of anxieties – when trying something new for the first time, going to a job interview or first date, or public speaking in front of a large audience – it is normal to feel anxious. However, when anxiety about social situations starts to negatively affect your life in that you avoid certain social situations, then you may be experiencing Social Phobia.

Social anxiety means you may fear or perceive judgement from others. You also will experience significant anxiety in social situations. You might find that there are some social situations you can deal with, such as catching up with a friend for coffee, but the thought of going to a party, may make you tremble.
