Approach

Julia’s approach to her therapeutic work is integrative and recognises the varying needs of individuals. She places the utmost importance on establishing and maintaining strong relationships with her clients as she believes these are the foundations of successful therapy. Julia is passionate about supporting individuals to improve their well-being, and she empowers her clients to help them achieve this. Julia values working with her clients in a collaborative way. She will often discuss primary concerns and goals at the outset of therapy and will monitor these throughout, whilst acknowledging the importance of flexibility.

Experiences and Interests

Julia has worked in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, community mental health and private practices. Julia has worked with individuals across the lifespan presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. She is experienced in working with anxiety disorders, phobias, depression, neurodevelopmental disorders, bipolar disorders, trauma, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Throughout her training, Julia worked extensively with children, adolescents, and young adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, specifically autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. She has a particular interest in assisting young people to implement positive changes that will benefit them long-term.

Therapies

Julia draws from a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She incorporates aspects of different approaches to suit the needs and goals of her clients.

Outside of her work as a psychologist, Julia enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and playing with her Golden Retriever puppy.
