Approach

James’ approach is based on building a foundation of collaboration, honesty, and empathy with his clients. James strives to create a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can openly express themselves. He is also committed to a goal-oriented and strengths-based approach, focusing on identifying and achieving specific goals tailored to each person’s needs using evidence-based techniques and interventions. Additionally, James values flexibility, recognising that everyone’s journey is different, and adapts his methods to meet each individual’s evolving needs.

Experiences and Interests

James has worked in various mental health settings working with individuals of all ages and with a variety of presenting issues. James has gained experience in both community, public and private mental health systems, while also having worked in the United Kingdom. James has also garnered experience working in both group and one-to-one therapeutic settings. James has particular interests in working with individuals who are confronted with existential questions, seeking to understand the deeper meaning of life. James is also interested in working with individuals who face difficulties with low mood, anxiety, interpersonal challenges, emotional difficulties and overall desire to improve wellbeing.

Therapies

James draws on multiple modalities in his therapy to meet the needs of his clients. James is trained and well-versed in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Outside of his Psychological practice, James is an eager basketballer, rock climber, and traveller. He is always keen to try new things.
