Approach

Emily’s therapeutic approach is based on her own values of honesty and authenticity. Emily aims to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for each client to feel comfortable sharing their inner experiences. She seeks to develop a shared understanding of the client’s inner experiences and support clients to gain insight into their difficulties. Emily believes that a strong therapeutic alliance is an essential element of effective therapy, therefore, she places emphasis on building this alliance by taking time to understand and validate each client.

Experiences and Interests

Emily has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults across educational settings, community mental health, and private practice. Emily works with a range of mental health concerns including anxiety and mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attachment difficulties, Autism, ADHD, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties and stress.

Emily has an interest in eating disorders, and body image concerns. Emily believes in the Health At Every Size approach and is passionate about assisting clients to improve their relationships with their bodies.

Therapies

Emily appreciates that each client is unique, therefore, ensures interventions are tailored to the individual’s needs, while also being evidence-based. Emily is experienced in delivering Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and may also incorporate elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
