Amelia is a warm and caring clinical psychologist whose practice is guided by values of compassion, respect, and authenticity.

Approach

Amelia works collaboratively with every client to make them feel comfortable, heard, and understood. She spends time gathering information about a client’s history and symptoms so that she can help to create a shared understanding of their difficulties. Amelia encourages and supports clients to take an active role in their treatment, to allow them to feel confident and empowered to make the changes they need in their own lives. Amelia uses evidence-based therapies to ensure that clients receive the most effective and appropriate treatment.

Experiences and Interests

Amelia has worked in private and public hospitals, and a community-based psychology clinic, and has experience in providing inpatient and outpatient individual and group therapy. Amelia has worked with wide range of presentations including anxiety, depression, bipolar affective disorder, trauma, BPD and other personality disorders, OCD, attachment/interpersonal issues, substance abuse, and other addictive or impulsive behaviours. She has treated clients across the lifespan but has a special interest in working with young adults and adults who are anxious, have trouble regulating their emotions, or who struggle to make or maintain fulfilling relationships.

Therapies

Amelia uses a range of evidence-based approaches, tailored to each individual’s needs. She is trained in, and has experience with, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, relaxation, and mindfulness-based strategies, and she has extensive experience in, and a passion for, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Amelia Personally

Amelia loves baking, walking, spending time with friends and family, going out for High Tea or brunch, and being in nature. She also enjoys playing with and cuddling her three pets – two French Bulldogs and a cat.
