Patricia is a warm, caring and non-judgemental psychologist who enjoys working collaboratively with patients to develop a deep understanding of their situation and provide a supportive space to improve wellbeing and satisfaction.

Approach

Patricia takes an individualised, tailored approached to therapy, where her clients’ story is at the heart. She practices evidence-based psychological intervention, intertwined where suitable and appropriate for the individual and their goals. Patricia emphasises the building of autonomy and empowerment in her therapy, and will facilitate her clients to challenge themselves at times, while being trauma-informed. She encourages practice of practical strategies between sessions as well as building self-awareness in her clients so they have better management of their wellbeing.

Experience and Interests

Patricia has experience across the lifespan and in particular enjoys working with adults and older adults. She has practiced across hospital settings, community clinics, aged care, and universities, working with people with a range of presentations. In particular, Patricia has experience with people who have endured an extremely stressful or traumatic event and thus has focused her therapeutic intervention and approach in line with trauma informed care. She also has knowledge, experience and particular interest in brain plasticity and often pulls from her previous research in neurobiology to help understand a person’s mind-body connection

Therapies

Patricia has training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Schema Therapy (ST), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
