Approach

Irene aims to provide a nurturing, respectful, non-judgemental space so that clients feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. Holding a safe space for clients enables them to explore and reflect on their experiences with openness and renewed perspective.

Irene tailors therapy to meet each client’s individual needs and personality, and works at a pace that resonates with them. She gently encourages and empowers clients to develop personal insights and knowledge as she supports them on their journey toward recovery, enhanced wellbeing, and a values-aligned, meaningful life.

Experience and Interests

Irene has experience in clinic and educational settings working with adults and children experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anger management, life adjustment, and regulation difficulties. Irene has facilitated wellbeing seminars in the corporate sector and tertiary institutions. She also has a special interest in mentoring parents and facilitating parent workshops to help build parents’ skills and confidence with the aim of strengthening parent-child connections while maintaining healthy boundaries.

Therapies

Irene adapts therapy to meet individual client needs, primarily drawing on aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotional Intelligence, and principles and interventions from Positive Psychology (PP). Irene provides clients with accessible tools and strategies to facilitate client learning and growth, resourcefulness, insight, and empowerment.

Irene highly values connection. She loves being with family and friends, and enjoys spontaneous and meaningful interactions with people she crosses paths with. She enjoys the tranquil nature of the beach and green spaces. She loves cooking, reading, playing board and card games, and going for walks. Her favourite morning ritual is the smell and taste of coffee, preferably enjoyed with good company.
