Pronouns: He/Him
Approach
Jackson takes a warm, genuine, and collaborative approach to therapy. He understands that reaching out for psychological support can be daunting and places a strong emphasis on creating a space where clients feel comfortable, understood, and able to speak openly. He works collaboratively with clients to develop a shared understanding of what may be contributing to their current difficulties, while identifying practical and meaningful ways forward. His approach is evidence-based and tailored to the individual, recognising that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process.
Experience and Interests
Jackson has experience working across the lifespan in both Australian and international mental health settings. His clinical experience spans from hospital, research, community, and public service settings, including work within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
Alongside his private practice work, Jackson works as a psychologist with Victoria Police, supporting members with a range of psychological and occupational concerns. His broader experience has included psychological assessment, individual and group therapy, and trauma-informed care. Jackson has a particular interest in trauma and post-traumatic stress, anxiety, OCD, bipolar, adjustment difficulties, and the psychological impacts of challenging life experiences. More broadly, Jackson enjoys working with clients who want to better understand themselves and the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that might be contributing to difficulties in their lives.
Therapies
Jackson draws from a range of evidence-based psychological therapies and adapts his approach according to each client’s needs, goals, and preferences. His work is primarily informed by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-informed approaches, such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT), as well as schema therapy. During therapy, Jackson maintains a psychodynamic approach with his clients and uses psychological formulation to better understand current difficulties.
How is Jackson Described by His Clients?
Jackson aims to bring warmth, curiosity, and authenticity into the therapy room. Clients often experience his style as approachable, non-judgemental, and easy to talk to, while still feeling appropriately challenged and supported to make meaningful changes. He values being genuine in his interactions and believes that a strong therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for effective psychological work. Jackson strives to create a space where clients do not feel that they need to have the “right” thing to say and can instead show up as themselves.
Jackson Personally
Outside of psychology, Jackson enjoys keeping active, spending time with people who are important to him, and travelling. He brings the same sense of curiosity to his life outside of work and values humour, authenticity, and genuine connection with others.
